As mentioned in my previous article, I've been tasked with reading five texts for my research. The recommended content-related references are:
Helfrich, S., & Bollier, D. (2020). "Frei, fair und lebendig: Die Macht der Commons." Transcript Verlag. DOI: 10.14361/9783839455746
Ostrom, E. (2015). "Governing the Commons: The Evolution of Institutions for Collective Action." Cambridge University Press.
Great Mindshift, Key Concepts: "Great Mindshift" (https://greatmindshift.org/key-concepts/great-mindshift/)
Wearne, S., Hubbard, E., Jónás, K., & Wilke, M. (Year). "A Learning Journey into Contemporary Bioregionalism." People and Nature, Advance online publication. DOI: 10.1002/pan3.10548
For methodology, the recommendation was:
Sclavi, M. (2008). "An Italian Lady Goes to the Bronx." Ipoc Di Pietro Condemi.
The research fields I am working in are potentially commoning, bioregionalism, and mind-shifting.
My coach emphasised the importance of reading the recommended papers, translating them, and mapping the learning with the real case I proposed. By doing so, I can potentially identify an impact model arising from the insights gathered. This outline could form the basis of my thesis paper, focusing on the development of an impact model for handling commons, using my specific research case as an example, and potentially scaling up to entire bioregions and agricultural lands.
I was advised to write two pages per book on reflections, summarizing each book by answering a set of core questions. These questions include what I read in the book, why I research in this field, what the book is about, key messages, and how they align with others I've read. Additionally, I was asked to write half a page per book summarizing how the book and its theories might be relevant to my case study, why it might be relevant, and what it might mean for the specific community or any other. This will probably guide my exposition in one month, ensuring it's aligned with the interests of both the community and the faculty.
Furthermore, I was reminded that it's essential to approach everything from the perspective of the community, ensuring that my research remains relevant and impactful.
